Biography

David has recently retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a senior member of its Competition Practice for 12 years. Prior to joining PwC he was the chief economist at the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and has over 30 years’ experience of advising government and the private sector on the application of competition policy. David has also worked as an economist advising on competition policy within the Competition Commission (CC) and the Department of Trade and Industry (currently the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform). David also has wide experience in providing technical assistance in the development of competition law and policy to governments in the emerging market economies. He has also provided assistance to the anti-monopoly authorities in the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Kenya; and was particularly involved in the training and development of the new competition authorities in the Republic of South Africa. Since 1992 David has been involved in the OECD training seminars for countries in transition and has also provided training within UNCTAD and World Bank technical assistance seminars. In 1996 he was appointed as a Special Professor in the School of Management and Finance at the University of Nottingham.
