A trade lawyer with a specialisation in WTO rules, Ms. Neufeld joined the World Trade Organization in early 2001. As the Secretary of the Negotiating Group on Trade Facilitation, she oversaw the multilateral negotiations in this field. She now holds a similar position with respect to the newly established Preparatory Committee, tasked to ensure the Trade Facilitation Agreement's expeditious entry into force and efficient operation.
Ms. Neufeld engages in numerous teaching activities - both for the WTO and for several universities, including the World Trade Institute and the University of Barcelona’s IELPO LL.M. She also contributes to various initiatives carried out in cooperation with other intergovernmental organizations, academia and the private sector.Before being with the WTO, Ms. Neufeld worked for the United Nations, which she joined shortly after having completed her PhD. During her 3 years with UNCTAD's International Trade Division she held various responsibilities in the areas of research and analysis. Other professional experience includes work for a law firm and an assignment with the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Her publications focus on international trade- and WTO law.
