This week IELPO has counted on the presence of H.E. Mr. Roberto Echandi. Ambassador Echandi undertook his doctoral and LL.M. studies in International Trade Law at the University of Michigan School of Law at Ann Arbor, Michigan; his M.Phil. in Latin American studies with emphasis in economic integration at the University of Oxford; Licenciado en Derecho, at the University of Costa Rica and specialized negotiation courses at the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.
During his course Mr. Echandi addressed the issues of definitions, scope of application and right of establishment of international investment agreements, of relative standards of treatment to investment and treatment in case of strife, and of the absolute standards of protection to investment and protection against unlawful expropriation. Finally we covered also other key investment protection guarantees such as transfers, transparency, performance requirements and umbrella clauses.Pictures Presentation | LL.M.
