Pablo Arriagada has both Chilean and French nationalities. He obtained his law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile located in Santiago. Given his interest on issues of economic law, trade and foreign investment, he has focused his academic experience in these fields pursuing a Master's in International Contracts and Comparative Law issued jointly by the College of Law of the American University (Washington DC, USA) and the University of Chile.
He also got a Graduate Certificate in International Contracts and Business Law awarded by the College of Law at the American University, and completed a Graduate Certificate organized by the European Commission on Relations between the European Union and Latin America, lectured at the Institute of International Relations at the University of Chile. This year, he was granted a scholarship from "Fundación Carolina" that allows him to join the IELPO programme at the University of Barcelona in order to deepen matters relating to international trade law, which are of special interest for his professional career.
Professionally, Pablo Arriagada currently serves as a legal adviser at the Ministry of Finance of Chile. While working for this institution, he participated in advising relevant drafts of economic laws, such as the protection of economic data and debt consolidation, and changes to public procurement law. He has also been requested to advice on matters of commercial and administrative law, and to support the newly created tax and customs courts of Chile.
Previously, Pablo Arriagada served for several years at a large law firm in Santiago, where he was in charge to advise foreign clients from Brazil, France, among others, on issues of commercial law and investment abroad. He was also representative of the law firm in the French-Chilean Chamber for Commerce and Industry and finally during this period, Pablo Arriagada was the coordinator attorney of a major national fishing company, participating in several issues of legal relevance.
