Luis Felipe Aguilar studied Law at the University of Azuay (Ecuador). Since his first years as a professional, he has been working in Ecuador's public sector. This allowed him to become familiar with a broad set of tasks like participating in the production of legal drafts as an adviser of the Vice-presidency of the National Congress or analyzing the public sector's contracts and bid processes as an official in the Solicitor General Office of the Republic of Ecuador. In this last entity he developed the most important part of his carrier.

Since the creation of the International Litigation and Arbitration Unit on the Solicitor General Office, approximately three years ago, he has participated as one of the members of the Unit in charge of the defense of Ecuador in international investment claims. This experience has allowed him to participate on the litigation of several arbitral procedures in different forums such as ICSID and the Permanent Court of Arbitration.

The IELPO Programme, in which he is currently enrolled, will bring him a unique opportunity to focus in greater depth on international economic law and policy and acquire a keener knowledge on the international law. His academic background includes a Master in Public Contracts.

Felipe's native language is Spanish and he is also fluent in English.
