ZHANG Weiwei is a Chinese national. She got her master's degree in Economics from the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade in March 2007, where she also obtained a certificate for WTO training. She won the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Scholarship 2005-2006 with a paper on China's economic reform. In 2007, she participated in the World Bank Institute's E-Learning Course on Trade in Services and International Agreements.
From April 2007 to July 2009, Weiwei worked as a Project Officer at the EU-China Trade Project, where she developed and assisted in managing practical and research projects related to China's implementation of GATS commitments across a range of industrial sectors. Before that she had a one year internship with the Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation Center.
Weiwei operates a WTO blog in Chinese with updates on WTO information and research, which has been frequently referred to by practitioners. She is a regular writer for the WTO Focus, a specialized periodical on WTO research in China and volunteer translator for the ICTSD China Program.
Apart from Chinese, Weiwei speaks fluent English and is a certified senior interpreter in China.
