Matthijs van Neerbos

Matthijs van Neerbos received his BSc degree in Economics and Business (2009) from the University of Amsterdam. His bachelor research paper took an ethical perspective towards the causes and implications of the U.S. mortgage crisis.  During his bachelor, Matthijs became increasingly engaged with societal issues, such as sustainable development and poverty reduction.

He joined the IELPO program in order to transcend the solely economic perspective of his BSc, by also integrating legal and political viewpoints. International relations, public economics and the relationship between politics, economics and the law, are amongst his key academic interests.

After IELPO, Matthijs worked for two years as Policy Advisor for the Dutch Ministry of Finance on matters relating to EU economic governance. After that, Matthijs was team leader of the financial policy unit for the Dutch Labour Party. He currently works as Political Advisor to the Labour Party Leader in The Hague.
