Ihar Pilipenka began his academic career at Minsk State Linguistic University (Belarus) joining the department of Interpreting/Translating English in 2003. After his freshman year Mr. Pilipenka became one of the five students in Belarus to be awarded the Scholarship of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. Under the Scholarship Mr. Pilipenka joined Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO-University) Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, School of International Relations, concentrating on South Asia.
During his studies at MGIMO-University Ihar became a member of the Moscow International Model United Nations Secretariat, participating in international conferences under the aegis of the UN in Geneva (Switzerland), Princeton University (USA) and Mumbai (India), as well as several scientific conferences in Moscow, gaining deeper understanding of economic, legal and social problems of international relations. July 2006 Mr. Pilipenka had an internship in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Department of International Economic Organizations. The experience helped Ihar to draw upon the wealth of information on economic and legal cooperation between states.
June 2007 Mr. Pilipenka was awarded a scholarship of the Department of State of the United States of America, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Office of Academic Exchanges (IREX) providing for a year of non-degree study at Elon University (USA). During the 2007-2008 academic year in the United States Ihar worked with the finest professors, conducting research on India's foreign policy. He participated in several conferences on the UN Security Council agenda items, did an internship at Alamance County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and participated in a community service program. Mr. Pilipenka twice received the Elon University President's Commendation for academic excellence.
July 2009 Mr. Pilipenka graduated with honors from MGIMO-University with a B.A. in International Relations, Regional Studies (South Asia). In order to fulfil his interest in international law and deepen the understating of international economic relations Mr. Pilipenka decided to join the IELPO LL.M. program. For these ends Ihar Pilipenka applied for and was awarded the University of Barcelona, the Patronat Catalunya/Mon and the Virtual Institute of UNCTAD Scholarship.
Ihar is a native speaker of Russian and Belarusian. He is fluent in English, speaks Hindi and Urdu, and speaks a bit of German and Latin.
