Romulo Brillo has Italian citizenship but was born and raised in Brazil.. He pursued a career in law, after obtaining a J.D./LL.B. degree in Law from the Rio de Janeiro State University - UERJ. After his academic education, he worked in the corporate law department of three major Brazilian law firms, where he was exposed to foreign clients and to international legal practice.
In view of his professional experience and of his academic interest, he pursued postgraduate studies related to international law. He attended a specialization course in International Commerce Law at UERJ (2008) and was admitted to UERJ's master's degree programme in International Law and Economic Integration (2009), where he is developing research on Investment Law and transnational companies.
He joined the IELPO programme (2009) to pursue further studies in International Economic Law and Policy, which he believes will provide him expertise in international trade law, complementing his past studies in international law.
Apart from his native Portuguese, Romulo is fluent in English and has advanced knowledge of French and Spanish.
