María Boada Descalzo studied Law at ESADE University in Barcelona where she specialized in International Law.  Afterwards, she finished a postgraduate certificate in International Relations at the University of Barcelona and a 6-month traineeship at the European Parliament in Brussels (DG Information) focused on European identity.   In September 2008, she joined a Barcelona based Law firm (Roca Junyent Advocats) as a junior lawyer, focusing on corporate matters and complementing this experience with a course on business law at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

During these years, Maria has always tried to broaden her knowledge and experience, whether it be through courses and seminars regarding international law, and participating in projects with NGOs.  She worked as an intern  at the UN -former- Commission on Human Rights in Geneva and at the Community Legal Services at the University of Western Ontario in Canada as a volunteer. The IELPO Program, to which she is currently enrolled, will bring her a unique opportunity to focus in greater depth on international economic law and policy.

Apart from speaking Spanish and Catalan, María is bilingual in French and fluent in English.  She also has a basic knowledge of German.
