Maria Alcover Llubià got her Degree in Law at the University of Barcelona in February 2009. She studied EU Law for six months at the University of Leuven (Belgium). Before finishing her legal studies, she participated with the UB team in the ELSA WTO Moot Court Competition, winning the European Regional Round in Frankfurt-Oder (Germany). Maria won the 'Best Orator Award' in both the semifinals and the grand final and her team ranked fifth in the Final Oral Round that took place in Taipei (Taiwan).
Maria also holds a Degree in Translation and Interpretation from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She chose to study a track of three foreign languages, becoming a translator of English, Arabic and Portuguese. She has lived in Virginia (USA), Cairo (Egypt) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) attending both work and language programs. She has also been granted the sworn translator title by the Government of Catalonia.
Maria gained experience in the private sector working for one of the largest law-firms in Spain before her admission to the IELPO Program.
Maria worked as an intern in the Legal Aspects of Trade Policy Unit at the European Commission (Brussels) and will be doing an internship in the Appellate Body Secretariat (Geneva) from April 2011.
