Marianela Piedra graduated from Customs Administration and Foreign Trade in the University of Costa Rica. After completing her undergraduate degree she went to work with a customs broker and later worked with a company that coordinated logistics of cargo shipped from Asia to Costa Rica.
In 2006 she joined the team of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica, as the assistant to the Director of the Investment and Cooperation Directorate. During her years in the Ministry, she participated in trade negotiations such as the Association Agreement between the European Union and Central America. She also dealt with investment incentive regimes, migration, export promotion, among others.
She speaks english, german and spanish.
Marianela works as a Counsellor in the Embassy of Costa Rica in Beijing.
