Oxana Gorbunova

Oxana graduated from the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia with a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics with a specialization in translation and interpreting.

In 2016 Oxana had a full-time internship within the Economic Cooperation and Trade Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This internship gave her some experience in working within an inter-organizational project through her efforts in framing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), participating in activities related to trade facilitation and economic cooperation, and assisting in the organization of large-scale multicultural events. Her duties went beyond merely carrying out administrative tasks and she ultimately made significant contributions to leading UNECE projects. Oxana pursued independent research and was responsible for developing a background paper on gender issues in trade. This paper was circulated to various international experts who then developed a policy paper on the topic. The positive experience she gained from this internship then gave her the personal incentives to pursue the study of international trade and economic policy.

In 2017 Oxana finished the first year of the Master’s degree programme in Economics, majoring in International Trading System at St. Petersburg State University. During the first year of her Master’s, she chose to delve deeply into studying intellectual property rights, policy and regulations concerning pharmaceuticals.

Being a native Russian speaker, Oxana is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Oxana has decided to join the 2017-2018 IELPO LL.M. Programme to study international economic policy and further foster her knowledge of International Trade Law.
