Vielka Hernández

Vielka Hernández obtained her Bachelor of Laws with the highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) from Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 2016.

While completing her studies, she worked as a paralegal in a top tier law firm in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, focusing on Intellectual Property, Corporate and Tax Law. After graduation, she continued her professional career in the law firm as a corporate lawyer.

International Law caught Vielka’s attention during her undergraduate studies. As a result, she cofounded the first “International Law Students Association (ILSA)” Chapter in the Dominican Republic (ILSA-UNIBE). Through ILSA-UNIBE, Vielka was able to participate in seminars and activities in the United States, including the International Law Weekend “Global Problems, Legal Solutions: Challenges for Contemporary International Lawyers” held by the American Branch of the International Law Association and the International Law Students Association (ILSA) in Fordham University School of Law, New York in November 2015 as well as Young ICSID “Introduction to ICSID Process for Law Students, International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID)” in Washington, D.C. in April 2016.

Furthermore, and as proof of her interest of international law, Vielka interned in the Supreme Courts of the City of New York and participated in various occasions in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition held in Washington, D.C.

Vielka’s native language is Spanish. She is fluent in English and Portuguese, and has advanced knowledge of French.
