Nkosazana Dweba

South Africa

Nkosazana Dweba was born in 1993 in East London, South Africa. She completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Rhodes University in 2014, double majoring in Legal Theory and Business Management. Nkosazana further completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with distinction in 2016, also at Rhodes University. Nkosazana has always been interested in the intersection between commerce and law, both domestically and in terms of international trade.

During her penultimate year of study at Rhodes University, Nkosazana took a chance and tried out for the ELSA Moot Court Competition team, and was selected to be on the team. The team won the African Regional Round and Nkosazana won the best orator awards for the preliminary rounds and the grand final. The latter award carried the David Unterhalter Prize – a full scholarship for the IELPO programme.

After completing her LLB in 2016, Nkosazana has lent her legal knowledge to the Rhodes University Faculty of Law. She has served as course coordinator for Commercial Law 101 (specifically lecturing on the law of contract) and has lectured a portion of Legal Theory 102 (focusing on rights and legal systems). Nkosazana also has experience in coaching moot teams (for ELSA and the South African Kovsie Moot on Children’s Rights) and debating teams, and has served as deputy chief adjudicator for the South African National Schools Debating Championships.
