Vutha HING is a Master student of the International Economic Law and Policy (IELPO) program at University of Barcelona, Spain. He has studied international economics (M.A Degree) at Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies at Waseda University, Japan (2003) and business administration (BBA) at National Institute of Management, Cambodia (1999).
Vutha is a research associate in the economic and trade program at CDRI - Cambodia's leading independent development research institute. His research focus has been on national trade policy and international trade issues in both the multilateral trading system and the regional trade blocs in Asia. As the sole researcher in this field, he has been actively involved in several important international training courses including: WTO/ESCAP ARTNeT Capacity Building Workshops on Trade Research, UNCTAD Workshop on Teaching and Research on Economic and Legal aspects of International Investment Agreement, UNCTAD/WTO/ITC Workshop on Tools and Methods for Trade and Trade Policy Analysis, and has also participated as a speaker in a number of key national and international seminars and conferences on trade issues and policies. Vutha has recently been nominated by the Ministry of Commerce to represent Cambodia in a study group on the feasibility of Comprehensive Economic Partnership in Asia or ASEAN + 6 FTA, which was initiated and supported by the Government of Japan.
Vutha has also had some experiences in the private sector and consulting works. After graduation, he has worked at the Mobile Phone Service Provider Company CamGSM Co.; Ltd. as a sales representative and was a sales and marketing executive at the consumer products Distribution Company Diethelm Co.; Ltd., as well as working as part of a consultant team in a few research projects and program evaluations.
After graduating from IELPO Program, Vutha was promoted as research fellow at CDRI. His research focuses are international trade policy and trade policy analysis.
