Daniel Tovar attended Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá (Colombia), where he obtained his law degree (2013) and two specialization postgraduate degrees in markets and economic law, and commercial law (2014).
During his academic training he was part of the teams that represented Universidad del Rosario in the ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO (Washington D.C., 2012) and University of Oxford’s Price Moot Court Competition on freedom of speech (New York City, 2013), obtaining an academic excellence award due to his performance in those competitions.
Before graduating from law school, Daniel obtained an internship in the legal department of the multinational corporation Philip Morris Colombia – Coltabaco.
After graduation he worked at Abusaid Gómez & Asociados, a boutique law firm specialized in international trade and foreign investment, and in Valbuena, Gamboa, García, Cardona Abogados, focusing his practice as litigator and consultant in regulatory and competition-antitrust affairs.
Due to his background, he was awarded a partial scholarship to join the IELPO LL.M. Programme, 2016 – 2017 edition.
Daniel is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
