Maksym Podopryhora comes from Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. In 2016, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in international law from Institute of International Relations, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
His interest towards international law dates back to 2010, when Maksym became a Future Leaders Exchange program finalist and spent one year in a US high school as an exchange student.
During his undergraduate studies, Maksym greatly expanded his knowledge in the sphere while participating in various seminars and workshops in the fields of International Trade, International Finance and Corporate Law. Besides that, he actively took part in the university’s social life, being a member of Student Council and editor-in-chief of IIR TV organization.
His first working experience was at Marchenko Danevych law firm in Kyiv, Ukraine during the Summer Internship Program, 2016, where Maksym was able to develop his analytical and legal skills and apply the obtained knowledge into practice, dealing primarily with international trade, taxes and customs issues.
Maksym’s decision to become part of the IELPO LL.M. Programme came after participating in the 14th edition of the ELSA WTO Moot Court Competition, which triggered his interest towards deepening his knowledge in the area of international trade law. He believes that the program will be of an extreme importance in achieving his future professional goals, namely, promoting the interests of his country in the international arena and contributing to its development and welfare. To that end, Maksym is also very grateful for receiving the ELSA Scholarship, which provided him with an opportunity to join IELPO.
Maksym is fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian, and has an elementary level in German.
