A young Kenyan with a keen interest in legislation in the public domain, Wanjiku G Waweru delved into law as a result of a childhood interest in the legal aspect of the history of humanity. She is an alumna of Jomo Kenyatta University (JKUAT) in Kenya where she undertook a course leading to Bachelor of Laws (LL. B).
She interned at the Office of the Deputy President, drafting particular legal pieces and documentation relevant to government departments under the Legislative and Inter-Governmental Liaison Office. In the same capacity, she aided in drafting legislative bills for government ministries, to be tabled in parliament, and undertook research on various areas of public law as part of her internship.
She took part in the European Law Students Association Moot Court Competition on WTO Law in 2016 and the Fourth All Kenyan Moot Court Competition on Refugee Law, on 20th and 21st February 2015, thus gaining critical insights into the practice and application of law in both events. Wanjiku is also a member of the East African Law Students Association.
Wanjiku hopes that by joining IELPO, she will expand academic knowledge as well as practical skills in the field of International Economic Law. She aspires to be an international trade lawyer and make a significant contribution in her country, Kenya.
