Jaime Castro was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1985. He obtained his Law degree (2009) from Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá and a postgraduate degree in Commercial Law from the same University with a scholaship granted for graduate studies (Specialization / Diploma in Commercial Law), due to the achieved score on the examination of Academic Quality in Higher Education - ECAES - . (2010). During his studies he was also Academic monitor (Assistant professor) in Alternative Dispute Resolution in the undergraduate program of Jurisprudence –School of law at Universidad del Rosario.
Once graduated as a lawyer, Jaime worked in Gaitán Bermudez Asociados, a law firm in Bogotá, where he practiced commercial and contract law.
After that he started to work at the Central Bank of Colombia acquiring experience in the Contract Division and also the Private and Public Law Division, where he have had the chance to advise the contracts of the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Bank, and have been working on the advising and drafting of legal opinions, documentation and memoranda in relation to contract law, intellectual property, privacy law.
Jaime decided to join the IELPO program supported by two scholarships granted by the IELPO Programme and Fundación Colfuturo of Colombia.
