Riikka was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1990. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Helsinki in 2015. She is currently finishing her Master of Laws degree with a special focus on international law. During her studies Riikka has also studied French philology in the Faculty of Arts.
During the 2013-2014 academic year Riikka participated in the ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law. The EMC2 sparked her interest for international trade law, and she decided to continue on the topic in her studies. The following year Riikka was chosen to be the head coach of the Helsinki team. During the moot court experience Riikka grew interest also in oral litigation.
During her studies Riikka gained experience and practical knowledge in three different firms. She has worked as a junior trainee in one of the major law firms in Finland, and before joining IELPO she was a senior legal trainee in a local law firm of three lawyers. At the beginning of her studies she was an active member of the local law students’ association. In June 2015, ELSA International appointed Riikka to represent the association as a Member of Delegation in the UNCITRAL Working Group V meetings in the UN headquarters in New York.
Riikka decided to join the IELPO program to further expand her academic knowledge in the field of international economic law.
