Carol M. Bast is associate professor in the Department of Legal Studies at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. She teaches the survey of law course, the legal research course, and the legal writing course and authored undergraduate textbooks on those topics. Her areas of research and writing include eavesdropping and wiretapping, plagiarism, legal ethics, legal research, and legal writing.
She was awarded a sabbatical for the 2015 – 2016 academic year, which allows her to pursue the IELPO LL.M. at the University of Barcelona.
Prior to becoming a professor, Bast clerked for a federal district judge and practiced corporate, securities, and real estate law. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from New York Law School and her B.A. from Kalamazoo College.
At Kalamazoo College she majored in Spanish and spent two quarters of foreign study in Madrid. She had the opportunity to revisit Spain in 2007, 2010, 2012, and 2014. During the summer of 2010, she spent two weeks bicycling the Camino de Santiago from San Sebastian to Santiago de Compostela.
