Adriana Cortés Pastrana was born in Bogota, Colombia, in 1990. She obtained her Law degree from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia (2013). Adriana wrote her undergraduate thesis on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures. Since then, she has demonstrated a deep interest on Foreign Trade topics.
In 2012, she made her internship in a law firm called Leal Angarita Asociados. During this internship, Adriana worked on litigation cases related to corporate law and the real estate sector. Then, in 2013 she had the opportunity to do an internship at Brigard & Urrutia Abogados, where she worked on Foreign Trade topics, assisting the firm’s attorneys (associates) in litigation cases in connection with trade remedies related to antidumping, safeguards and countervailing measures.
In August 2013, Adriana went to Geneva, Switzerland to work in the Colombian Mission before the World Trade Organization, where she stayed for 7 months. In Geneva, she assisted the four Counsellors of the Mission in the meetings of the various WTO bodies and in the elaboration of reports for the Ministry of Trade in Bogotá – Colombia.
During the last year, she worked in Colombia as a lawyer in KPMG Tax and Legal Services Ltda. In this Company, she worked on customs, foreign exchange and labor matters.
Due to her professional and academic backgrounds, Adriana decided to join IELPO, where she expects to deepen her knowledge on international economic law.
