Alejandro Jaramillo Gómez was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He lived the first seven years in Stockholm, Sweden, after which he returned to Colombia.
Recognized by his academic excellence, Alejandro graduated from Universidad del Rosario (Bogotá) and obtained his Law Degree in 2014. During the course of his studies he obtained significant experience as a researcher, working with numerous prestigious professionals related to International Law, including Professor Héctor Olásolo (former Legal Officer in Chambers at the ICC) and members of the Colombian Supreme Court of Justice. Additionally, he collaborated in numerous publications and projects related to Trade Law, Private International Law and other International Law related topics.
As part of his academic training, Alejandro has also been part of international law competitions, including two successful participations as part of the University’s team. First, as a member in the VI Competition of International Commercial Arbitration, Universidad de Buenos Aires - Universidad del Rosario, achieving the 6th place out of 46 teams in the oral rounds. Second, as Captain and chief orator in the XI ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law, Latin American Regional Round, drafting prize-winning memorials (Best Respodent/Best Overall memorials) and achieving 5th place as best orator in the preliminary rounds.
Upon graduation and thoroughly interested in International Economic Law, Alejandro has been admitted to the IELPO Program and has been awarded a partial Scholarship by IELPO. Confident that IELPO offers the necessary means for him to grow as a lawyer and make a significant contribution to his country, he is looking forward to having an outstanding participation throughout the program.
