Sidonie Descheemaeker was born in Belgium, where she studied law at the University of Leuven. Her bachelor's degree concentrated on law and economics, while her master's degree focused on international law. She graduated magna cum laude. During her legal studies, Sidonie studied at the Católica Global School of Law in Lisbon in the framework of an Erasmus program. She also interned at several leading international law firms and participated in the ELSA WTO Moot Court Competition.
After pursuing the IELPO LL.M. program, Sidonie interned at the Appellate Body Secretariat of the WTO. Sidonie is currently an associate at the Brussels office of Van Bael & Bellis, where she focuses on all aspects of EU and international trade law, including WTO dispute settlement. In addition, Sidonie is a teaching assistant at the Institute for International Law of the University of Leuven.
Sidonie speaks Dutch, English, Spanish and French. She also has a good command of Portuguese and a basic grasp of German.
