Sanya Jain has obtained her B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Bachelor’s degree from Christ University, Bangalore, India in May, 2014. She took a lead role as a student editorial member in releasing the maiden issue of Christ University Law Journal and was a part of the editorial board for 3 years.
During her studies, Sanya undertook internship with the Centre for WTO Studies, India undertaking research dealing with the areas of trade and subsidies related to energy policies of various states of U.S.A. She has also interned at the Supreme Court of India, leading law firms and companies like Trilegal, India, Kochhar & Co., India, DLF Utilities, India and realised the need for economic analysis of law. She has been associated with the Indian Society of International Law and has completed a certificate winter-course on ‘Trade and Investment’.
Sanya has attended conferences- ‘The Fourth Biennial Conference of the Asian Society of International Law on Asia & International Law in the Twenty-First Century: New Horizons’ and ‘World Law Dialog’, workshops on legal writing by Centre for Law and Policy Research, Bangalore and Alternative Disputes Resolution, by Options Inc., Bangalore for deeper understanding of legal and technical trade issues. She has also participated in the ELSA (WTO) Moot Court Competition- Asia regional rounds held at Taipei in 2013. Since then, she has got motivated to pursue a career in the field of international trade and investment law and commercial arbitration. Thus, the topic of her qualifying dissertation was ‘A Critical Appraisal of Legal Regime Relating to Bilateral Investment Treaty Arbitration in India’.
Sanya is attending the IELPO programme supported by partial scholarship granted by the University.
