Afroditi obtained her LL.B from the University of Athens in 2013. She spent a semester as an Erasmus scholar at the University of Barcelona, where she developed a great interest in International Economic Law and development issues and decided to pursue postgraduate studies under the IELPO LL.M program.
Afroditi is currently a foreign lawyer at the Washington, D.C. office of Sidley Austin LLP. She is a member of the International Trade and Dispute Resolution group of the firm and her practice focuses in the areas of antidumping, countervailing duties, trade remedies, trade policy and negotiations and WTO dispute settlement.
Prior to joining the private sector, Afroditi was based in Geneva where she served as a trade attache/intern to the Permanent Mission of Greece to the WTO, while Greece was holding the presidency of the Council of the European Union. She subsequently joined the Legal Affairs Division of the WTO as a dispute settlement legal intern, where she was assisting WTO panels in adjudicating trade disputes between WTO members.
Afroditi studied law in Athens and Barcelona. Her IELPO Master's research paper focuses on a comparative analysis of the law and economics of WTO subsidy and EU state aid laws and disciplines.
Afroditi is a member of the Athens Bar. She is fluent in Greek, English, Spanish and French.
