Daria Chechushkina completed an exchange year in the United States,
through the Future Leaders Exchange Program, sponsored by the US Department of State.
A close look at relations between countries at such age gave a definite choice of future career.
Also after the third year of education (summer 2009), Daria has completed an internship in Moscow, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Trade Negotiations, Sub division on regulating disputes in international agreements. The internship proved to be successful and resulted in deepening her learning about the process of international trade.
During the last semester of her studies in Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Daria has been working in the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum Fund,
which deals with the organization and implementation of the yearly held in Saint-Petersburg the International Economic Forum.
In 2011 Daria started her Master’s program at Saint-Petersburg State University majoring in International Trading System. During the first year of her Master’s Degree, the chosen field of research topic was international proprietary rights regulation and trade in music goods and services, which became a great stimulus to apply for the IELPO Program.
Another stimulus was a two-week long visit with the department of International Economics of the Saint-Petersburg State University to Geneva,
where the whole group has been involved with lectures and workshops at several international organizations, such as UNCTAD, WTO, ITC, WIPO and the Permanent Russian Mission.
For the past two years Daria has been working closely with trade in music services in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
Under the conditions of Russia's accession to the WTO, it is extremely important to bring all the trade areas into compliance with the WTO standards. Property rights regulation in Russia has suffered great changes, but the system still lacks coherence with the WTO system.
