Anna Witteveen was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After graduating from secondary school, she spent a year travelling and studying in Argentina, Spain and Mexico. Anna attended the University of Maastricht (the Netherlands) where she graduated in a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies. During her Bachelor program, she participated in an Erasmus exchange program and studied several law subjects at the University of Valencia. Within the Bachelor program Anna experienced that her interests went out to international economics and international law.
Hence, she continued her studies through a Master’s program in International Economics and Business, a degree which she obtained in June 2012. Anna specialized in international economics, macroeconomics and international business. Her Master’s thesis, regarding the Argentine economy, obtained the highest possible grade (10, with honors).
Anna further spent six months as an intern at the economic department of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As an intern she performed all sorts of tasks, such as carrying out market investigations, writing weekly reports on the socio-economic developments in Argentina, performing specific market-based analyses for Dutch companies and businesses.
Anna is fluent in Dutch, English and Spanish. She sees the IELPO LL.M. as a perfect chance to further develop her passion for international economics and international trade law and initiate a life-long career within the field.
