Eiza Mohammad Madani



Eiza Mohammad Madani is an Afghan commercial Lawyer. He holds an LL.M. from the South Asian University (SAU) and an LL.B. from Kabul University.

Madani has served as WTO Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce and Industries of Afghanistan between 2015 and 2017. In this capacity, he played an instrumental role in the accession of Afghanistan to the WTO, which was successfully completed in 2016. In particular, Madani has been involved in the drafting of the comprehensive body of trade laws that Afghanistan adopted as part of its accession to the WTO. He also took part in the preparation of the WTO notifications submitted by Afghanistan and in the development of the first manual on WTO dispute settlement ever drafted in Afghanistan.

In the context of Afghanistan’s WTO and post-accession implementation phase, Madani regularly delivered lectures on a broad range of trade topics including trade remedies, TBT and SPS issues, trade in services and intellectual property, as well as dispute settlement, to private and public sector alike in Afghanistan.

His work experience also includes Afghanistan Center for commercial Dispute Resolution (ACDR)/ACCI where he served as a Case Manager. Besides managing arbitration and Mediation cases, he received trainings from prominent international alternative dispute resolution experts and delivered trainings tonational arbitrators and meditators. Madani also participated at fifthwillem c. vis middle east international commercial arbitration pre-moot.

Aside from trade law and policy, Madani enjoys learning new languages and playing football. He has joined the 2017-2018 IELPO LL.M. to increase his knowledge in International Economic Law and Policy and to learn Spanish.
