Patricia Rodríguez Martín was born in Cuba and was raised in both Sweden and Spain. She got her Law Degree at the University of Barcelona and was awarded a scholarship for a highly selective double-degree program to study the Juris Doctor Degree at the Nova Southeastern University, Florida. After a first encounter with the American law school experience for a period of six months, she returned to Barcelona where she finished the Law Degree in four years. During her studies in Law School she showed a great interest in International Law reflected both on the results obtained in the classes related to it and in the participation in a Moot Court Competition regarding violations of human rights which took place in Madrid, Spain on the national round and in Mexico City in the International final round.
Recently Patricia attended a summer programme on WTO, International Trade and Development at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies of Geneva, Switzerland.
These experiences made her realize the extent to which she is interested in international law, specifically the development of the European Union and its relations to the rest of the world.
She is a native speaker of Spanish and is fluent in English and Swedish.
