Felipe Ospina A. was born in Medellín (Colombia) in 1983. He attended the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá (Colombia), where he obtained his law degree (2005) and a postgraduate degree in tax law (2008). He also assisted professors in the areas of theory of the State and public finances during his tenure as a student in the Universidad del Rosario.
Since 2005, Mr. Ospina has been working with Plazas Vega Abogados & Cia., a leading Colombian law firm, where he is currently a junior partner. There he assists Colombian and foreign corporations (encompassing areas of trade as diverse as cement, financial services, oil, social security, steel production, telecommunications and utilities) both as a litigator and consultant in matters related to foreign investment, exchange law and taxation. He also served as a consultant to the Colombian government during the formulation of the National Plan of Development 2006-2010, the Information Technologies Act of 2009, the Postal Act of 2009 and the regulation of the financial contributions to the Communications Regulation Commission.
Mr. Ospina is attending the IELPO program with the purpose of improving his understanding of the laws of international trade and investment (with special emphasis on the instruments for protecting investments) as well of the instruments regarding international tax law.
