Irene Lanyi was born in Lima, Peru. She started her academic career obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and her Licence as Lawyer after preparing her exam on a subject related to Export facilitation mechanism, such as Drawback.
Her interest on Customs and International Trade increased when she started to work as an intern at the firm Ernst & Young and later as a lawyer, where she learned about International trade Policy and Law, as well as tax law.
She also worked as a Lawyer at the Peruvian public tax and customs institution (SUNAT), giving information regarding different Customs issues to people, for example, about the import and export regimes, and also about the Export facilitation mechanism.
Irene has demonstrated a solid commitment with the development of Peruvian Customs Institutions and desires to apply her knowledge to improve also International Trade Institutions.
Besides this experience, her professional background was enriched with a previous stage at an import firm, where she worked as the assistant of the Department of International Trade of the company.
Her mother tongue is Spanish and is fluent in English and Japanese
